Common Bond Association

Programs and Services

Common Bond Recovery Center provides long-term residential treatment solutions for chronic problems in a non-institutional atmosphere. The significance of this to our residents, many of whom have been referred from drug courts and criminal justice departments, and who have often spent time incarcerated or come from homeless and broken family structures, cannot be understated. Our home-like settings often act as triggers to memories of better times for our residents, long before the values of Faith, Hope, Trust, and Freedom were overtaken by the decimation of substance abuse.

Our residential treatment program, facilitated by a dedicated and caring staff, is unlike stereotypical residential housess in Mississippi that simply offers a place to live while residents integrate back into society. At Common Bond Recovery Center, we offer performance-driven long term drug rehab and alcoholism recovery through individual, group, and family counseling. We demonstrate to our residents that true hope for a better life is both tangible and attainable. Once this truth is accepted, traditional beliefs such as residential houses. being “just another place to live,” or that “long term recovery is impossible to achieve,” are replaced with the realization that drug rehab and alcoholism recovery is well within reach with hard work and guidance.

Long Term Residential Treatment for Men

Common Bond Recovery Center’s long term residential treatment for men excels—in part—because it is conducted from community based residential houses in Mississippi rather than from a hospital. Through Gestalt therapy, behavior modification and positive peer pressure, as well as individual and group counseling, life skills training, and a comprehensive drug-alcohol rehab program, we’re able to attain performance-driven results.

Transitional Living Programs for Men
Residents in our transitional living programs are located in home-like settings and live with a small group of other men as they prepare to integrate back into society. All room, board, and transportation to and from work, court appearances, and other necessary functions are provided.

Among adults who seek treatment for alcohol and drug abuse problems, many do not complete an entire course of treatment. This finding is a concern given the research showing that length of stay in treatment is one of the strongest predictors of positive treatment outcomes. Identifying factors that predict treatment completion is an important step towards understanding what leads to successful treatment.

Most of the residents in our drug addiction treatment center are classified as having a chronic addiction. This means that relapses are possible even after long periods of abstinence. Again, this holds true for those addicted to either alcohol or drugs. This condition is not unlike other well-characterized, chronic medical illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma. Like people faced with these illnesses, those seeking alcoholism treatment or drug abuse treatment have to accept the reality of lifestyle changes in order to facilitate their recovery. Once this reality is accepted, we teach our residents how to live a drug- and alcohol-free life through the 12-Step based dual recovery program, repeated treatments, accountability, and by giving them a stake in their own recovery.

Common Bond Recovery Center’s drug and alcoholism treatment program provides an overall therapeutic process that begins with a “black out” period in which no outside contact is allowed. A treatment and relapse prevention plan is implemented. This may include a customized treatment plan that addresses all aspects of an individual’s life, including medical and mental health services, as well as follow-up options such as transportation to work, court appearances, or attendance at Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, and Aftercare meetings. Residents of our drug and alcohol treatment center are taught job search skills and are assisted in finding employment, often through one of the many affiliations we have with businesses located in close proximity to our residential housess in Mississippi.
Once employment is secured, residents are required to budget all their income. This includes paying half of their net income as an investment in their treatment and saving one-third to fund independent housing once their in-house drug and alcoholism addiction treatment is concluded. Any remaining money must be used to pay other responsibilities, fines, and daily living expenses.

Common Bond Recovery Center’s drug and alcohol treatment centers are structured in four phases. Phase I and Phase II (highly structured and disciplined) are performance driven, and the average length of stay is approximately 2 months and 10 days. Phase III and Phase IV, which culminates to transitional living, offers the highest level of recovery. A resident that progresses through all four phases can expect to stay with CBRC for 12 months before moving onto our transitional living programs to prepare for integration back into society. In order to graduate from our drug and alcohol treatment center, a resident must have completed all recovery assignments, be employed full time, have at least $1,000 in savings, secured an approved living arrangement, and be firmly entrenched in a 12-step recovery process.

LONG-TERM RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT FOR MEN

Common Bond Recovery Center’s residential drug and alcohol treatment program for men represents a unique model for long term residential treatment and recovery. Our no-nonsense, highly structured and disciplined long term drug rehab and residential alcohol treatment program operates in a residential house setting while providing individual, group, and family counseling, room and board, and transportation to work, court appearances, and other necessary functions.

Residents are required to adhere to the house schedule at all times and may earn special privileges such as a weekend pass or a single-man room based on performance. Additionally, they must pay half of their net income as an investment in their residential treatment program and save 1/3 toward adequate funding for independent housing after their residential treatment is concluded. Anything left over must be used to pay child support (if applicable), fines, and daily living expenses.

Our long term residential treatment program is especially suited for men that have tried—and failed at—other residential drug treatment programs or residential houses living programs where supervision and accountability were negligible or non-existent. CBRC’s phased program, where residents’ actions are closely monitored and any privileges must be earned, restores the Faith that positive change can come about, instills the Hope for a better tomorrow, and the Trust that a new lifestyle can be sustained.

TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAMS FOR MEN

The model used for Common bond Recovery Center’s transitional living programs differ significantly from the model used by residential housess. The primary difference is that our transitional living programs focus on ongoing strong case management for men that have already completed our long term residential treatment.

Typically, transitional living programs across the country were established to assist those who have left highly structured institutions and help them adjust to and reenter society. Institutions of this kind are generally located within the community and offer little or no level of service, and usually with no more security other than signing in and out and observing curfew rules.

At Common Bond Recovery Center, we evolve our residents to transitional living programs only after the benefits of long term residential treatment at our facility house has been completed. Our transitional living program, also known as Phase IV of our long term treatment, is designed to increase the probability that our residents will continue their outpatient aftercare. To meet this goal, we provide a peer-driven, home-like setting that helps to enhance and sustain the recovery process while implementing the skills learned in our residential house. This process includes continued counseling, learning of life skills, learning how to assimilate back into society, developing effective relapse prevention strategies, defining and planning for continued educational or vocational pursuits, and engaging in activities not associated with substance abuse.

A man benefiting from these services provided through CBRC’s transitional living programs will likely have a greater opportunity to successfully develop and practice these new skills, and cultivate the Faith, Hope, and Trust needed to sustain his newfound Freedom.

Once a resident has successfully graduated and completed his integration from our transitional living program back into society, he is always welcome to come back “home” to Common Bond Recovery Center to revisit friendships, enlist support, and get a nutritious, hot meal. Our door is always open!
