Common Bond Association

Welcome from the Chairman

“The greatest revolution of our generation is the discovery that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.” – William James

When you make a decision to change your life or the life of someone you love, you have made the decision to change a community, redirect your life, and reshape your way of thinking. However, change cannot be successful without supporting friends and families, community resources, determination and faith on the part of the individual seeking help. The grip of addiction makes this decision difficult and impossible.

Alcohol and other drug (AOD) abuse and addiction impact thousands of individuals in Mississippi every year. Addiction is a very complex brain disease in which the individual becomes mentally obsessed with drugs and alcohol, despite negative consequences such as family disintegration, loss of employment, failure in school, domestic violence, and child abuse among others. Legal ramifications and criminal justice involvement commonly occur as a result. The impact to individuals, children, families, and entire communities is often devastating. Consequently, AOD abuse and addiction is EVERYONE’S problem as it infringes on every niche of every community.
Scientific advances over the last 30 years have defined AOD dependence as a chronic relapsing disease with psychological and physiological characteristics. Despite this fact, many continue to believe that addiction is a personal choice and evidence of moral weakness. Stereotypes and stigmas play significant roles in diminishing our community’s ability to respond to this issue; thus, the consequences to individuals, families, and communities are exacerbated.

Here at The Common Bond Recovery Center, we are ready and willing to accept your decision and provide the highest quality substance abuse rehabilitation treatment and resources for you or your loved ones, by walking each step of recovery with you to a path of sober living. We are dedicated to providing services that minimize and prevent alcohol and other drug-related problems for individuals, families, and groups of the underserved population. The CBRC accomplishes this by providing a comprehensive, behavior focused, culturally relevant, cost effective drug abuse program affordable to all. We are determined to bridge the gaps across treatment, relapse, aftercare/recovery services, and sober living.

It doesn’t matter what event or situation caused you to arrive at your decision to modify your life; you have taken the first step to change the outer aspects of your life. The Common Bond Recovery Center welcomes you to our facility, and we are committed to taking this journey with you.

Best regards,

Jim Phyfer
Chairman of the Board
